Topic: Embrace the New Retail: Disrupt or Be Disrupted

 

As traditional offline retail has been struggling for years since the disruption of e-tailing, the platform pure-play driven eCommerce in China will soon reach its ceiling as well. "New Retail", as Jack Ma calls it, has been a hot concept with emerging trends (e.g., omni-channel/O2O, scenario driven consumption, data powered personalization) but has yet fully taken off to deliver disruptive end-to-end customer experience. McKinsey has been tracking the consumer behavior changes over the last 3 years, and believes a turning point is just around a corner. Brands and retailers driving digital initiatives around 3 major themes might have higher chances to be the disruptors.
