Head of Data Centre Service Practice
Barry is a Chartered IT professional (CITP), and a Fellow of the Institute of Service Management (FISM) with extensive experience in the delivery Data Centre Services (both DC and IT). With global expertise in the delivery of projects across 40 countries globally, delivering services for Data Centre Operations for multi-national corporate organisations, operations management and development of Internet Service Providers, Data Centre Colocation Providers, and Managed Services Providers, before moving into an advisory role that enables Barry to help organisations transition and transform their Data Centre Services into the next phase of their business evolution.
With a slant to ‘Disruptive Consulting’ - challenging the norm to drive change into organisations, Barry takes a broad view of the influences and constraints in organisations and markets to advise on the most effective solutions for the organisation - even if this means challenging Suppliers to change their standard delivery model to accommodate these new services.
After working in the UK, across Europe and the Middle East, and America, Barry is now based in Hong Kong supporting the APAC region providing Data Centre, Cloud and IT CXX advisory services to Data Centre Operators and Multi-Nationals to better utilise current and new technology and services to drive efficiencies within the Data Centre. The challenge has always been the customer who has ‘always done it this way’, gaining their confidence and understanding what their level of change acceptance will be, the rest is standard Transformational Change Management practices which don’t come naturally to the typical IT professional.
With challenges of the IT evolution outpacing the development of the Data Centre, how can the industry maintain efficiencies in the Data Centre for the forthcoming years, having a foot in both areas helps Barry draw the two together to collaborate on future services, add a third medium the customer and the challenge is on.
With a standard motto of - Keep it Simple, communicate at the level of the recipient and provide a Trusted Advisory service, Barry can bring complexity to a level of understanding for all.

In a world of Mobile, Social, Cloud, Big Data Analytics, and Intelligent industries, Data Centre has become the key operator for business to engage with their customers. According to the latest IDC prediction, worldwide Data Centre space will continue to increase, growing from 1.58 billion square feet in 2013 to 1.94 billion square feet in 2018. IT leaders rely on their Data Center operators to deploy IT solutions that reliably and dynamically deliver compute, storage, and network capacity, on time -- with no delays, and no excuses.
It is also predicted that, in the near future, organizations will manage less of their own infrastructure, and choose on premise and hosted managed services for existing assets. They will make greater use of dedicated and shared cloud offerings in service provider Data Centre for new services.
Themed “The Enterprise-Defined Data Centre: Focusing on Business Outcomes”, the summit will reveal up-to-the-minute trends and practical approaches to I&O modernization, replacing the rigid — and increasingly outdated — infrastructure with cloud, virtualization, automation, DevOps, bimodal, software-defined anything and mobile. It aims at enabling each executive to make plans for his business, technology requirements, solutions, and capabilities as enterprises and business leaders update their Data Centre portfolios for 2017 and beyond.
